Watch: Jamal Murray rips out the Lakers' hearts with buzzer-beater

The Los Angeles Lakers thought they’d finally get a win against the Denver Nuggets. Jamal Murray had other plans.

Murray scored six points in the final minute, including the winning step-back jumper, which sent Anthony Davis toppling into the exuberant Nuggets bench.

The Lakers lost their 10th straight game to the Nuggets, including six in the last two playoffs. Los Angeles led by 20 early in the third quarter, but a furious Nuggets comeback led to some frenetic back-and-forth final minutes.

With 2:12 remaining, Nikola Jokic got the Nuggets within a point with an and-one.

LeBron James turned a steal into a thunderous dunk to put the Lakers up three, but Michael Porter Jr. hit a three-pointer to tie, from an Aaron Gordon pass as he was falling out of bounds.

Then D’Angelo Russell hit a layup, Murray hit two free throws, and in a final bit of heroics, James hit a go-ahead layup. But after another Murray jumper, James missed a three-pointer that opened the door for the game-winner.

James could have hardly done more to break his losing streak against Denver. He finished with 26 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds, along with two steals and two blocks. He even drilled consecutive three-pointers midway through the fourth, after Denver had cut the lead to two points.

Anthony Davis had 32 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 14-for-19. D’Angelo Russell scored 23 points and hit seven threes. And yet the Lakers simply couldn’t get over the hump against a team that simply has their number.

Or Nikola Jokic does. He had a triple-double with 27 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists, seemingly outlasting Davis.

Denver was down 20 points, shot 23.5% from three-point range and got no threes from seven of their nine players. And they still won.

LeBron and the Lakers have two games to find some answers.
